    In 1994, Mr. Li graduated from Shanghai Maritime University with a major in international shipping management and maritime law. From 1994 to 2002, Mr. Li was employed by Penavico Shantou as manager of the shipping department and legal counsel. He joined Wang Jing & Co. in 2002. In 2003, Mr. Li became a licensed lawyer and was given the task of establishing the Firm’s Xiamen Office. He has been Director of the Firm’s Xiamen Office since July 2007 and made partner in January 2009. 

    Mr. Li concentrates his practice on maritime, admiralty, and insurance matters, including disputes over marine insurance (including cargo insurance and hull insurance), ship building, bills of lading, charter parties, cargo claims, ship collisions, arrest of ships, maritime salvage, maritime investigations, security rights on vessels (including maritime liens, lien on vessel and security), marine casualties claims, and disputes over seamen labor contracts. He is also experienced in international trade, letters of credit, and corporate law.

    Mr. Li provides professional legal services for international P&I Clubs, Shipping Companies, Insurance Underwriters and docks and is regarded as an expert in dealing with disputes in shipping, insurance and international trade. In recent years, he has handled hundreds of maritime and admiralty cases, many of which were complex and difficult.

    Representations of note include: disputes over marine cargo insurance, insurance claims for imported soybean damage, claims for ship collision, subrogation, ship building contract disputes and numerous cases of releasing goods without bills of lading involving many international container lines and NVOCC such as Evergreen, Yang Ming, OOCL, Hanjin Shipping, CMA CGM, Wanhai Shipping, Hyundai Merchant, and APL.

    Mr. Li also assists many local companies such as Xiamen Ocean Shipping Co., Xiamen Port Holding Group Co. and CPIC in dealing with maritime and admiralty cases. Mr. Li has developed a rich social network and connections in Fujian and eastern Guangdong, which he has used to great advantage in handling cases and coordinating services.  

    Mr. Li is a well established legal theorist and frequently publishes dissertations (both in English and Chinese) in national and international magazines, as well as professional forums including Discussion of Practical Issues For the Application of Maritime Liability Limitation on Coasting Ships in China, Opinions on Damages for Illegal Aquatic Farming, Ship Registration System under Property Law, etc.
