    Experience:
    Mr. Yuan majored in navigation at Dalian Maritime University and graduated in 1993. In 2003, he furthered his studies at King's College London as a postgraduate major in maritime law and international arbitration and received the Chevening Scholarship granted for his excellent performance at work and proficiency in his business. In October 2004, he received his LLM and returned to China. Between March and October 2004, he was trained at Richards Butler, Steamship Mutual P&I Club, and Skuld P&I Club.

    From 1993 to1998, Mr. Yuan served as a PSC officer, ISM auditor and marine accident investigation officer in the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration. He has participated many times on behalf of the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration in conferences and training sessions for port states control for states under the Tokyo MOU, and has been in charge of the translation at the Tokyo MOU Meeting in Guangzhou. Mr. Yuan has over the years obtained extensive experience in dealing with maritime investigations and the safe management of ships and has unique expertise in collecting evidence from crew members.

    Mr. Yuan joined Wang Jing & Co. in 1999 and concentrates his practice on matters relating to maritime and admiralty law, international trade, ship building and repair, ship finance, etc. His clients include a number of reputed domestic and foreign P & I clubs, insurance companies, shipowners, international trading companies, and banks. He has assisted clients in litigation, arbitration and non-contentious matters of ship collision, salvage, compulsory removal of wreck, oil and chemical pollution, carriage of goods, general average, charter party, liens on vessel, mortgage of vessel, maritime liens, limitation of liability for maritime claims, ship building and repair, casualties at sea, ship sales and purchase, ship finance, maritime insurance, international trading, etc.

    As required by the needs of his clients, Mr. Yuan has broadened his practice to include corporate law and labor law. He advises a variety of foreign-invested companies on investment, including crafting the feasibility report for an investment project, offering legal opinions on laws, regulations and rules as well as policies of the PRC with respect to foreign investment, assisting foreign clients in evaluation of the law as well as the drafting, examination, modification and interpretation of contracts and other documents prior to transactions. Mr. Yuan also provides regular legal counsel to many companies by participating in business and collective negotiations as well as representing them in court proceedings and arbitrations.
