On 5 June 2014, Korean vessel M/V “SAARAON” sailed into several aquaculture areas in the waters of Hebei Province, China and caused loss when sailing from Qinhuangdao, China to Tianjin, China. The Owners applied to Tianjin Maritime Court for establishment of a single limitation fund for all of the maritime claims on the ground that the loss was caused by one accident. WJNCO was appointed by the injured to apply for retrial at the PRC Supreme Court. The PRC Supreme Court adjudged that separate allisions cannot be treated as one single accident and therefore the owners could not merely establish one limitation fund. This case was labelled as the Leading Case No. 112 of the Chinese Supreme Court.
